Event Description:
Bridging Business and Community
The Chamber and EISD will co-host a forum for the community to develop a better understanding of the state's public school funding formula.
Hear from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tom Leonard and special legislative guests how the current Recapture System for school funding, informally known as Robin Hood, impacts your business, students and stakeholders throughout Travis County.
In 2018-2019, businesses and residents in Eanes ISD lost nearly twice as much in recapture ($101.7 million) than they kept ($59.5 million) for our local Westlake schools.
As the 86th Texas State Legislature convenes in January, property taxes and school finance reform will be a critical priority for taxpayers at every level to understand and address.
